Two days ago, I drove into Switzerland. After 30 minutes I got an SMS: “You have used roaming data worth €49, please let us know if you would like to continue using roaming data.”
The old me from a few years ago would have done one thing:
I would have judged myself for being so stupid not to have done my research and wasted money.
In my childhood I developed a script that I always needed to be smart and optimise everything. Any evidence to the contrary would prove that I am stupid. So I have spent an exaggerated amount of time in my life researching, analysing, optimising decisions. And when I failed to optimise I would judge myself heavily.
Self-judgement is a very corrosive energy. It’s often subtle, it feels justified, and it drains the life out of the “self judge”.
Sometimes, when I work with clients, what surfaces are dozens, sometimes hundreds of self-judgements. They are the hidden unconscious scripts that run their lives and create their realities and possibilities.
I’m glad to have done so much work with my brilliant coach Ankush Jain on forgiving myself judgements and create a new conscious operating system to live by. So I can use 49 wasted Euros as a small lesson, nothing else.
What about you? Can you identify a script that runs your life and creates self judgement when you fail?
Awareness is the first step to make a different choice and step into a new possibility…
PS: I got to see the famous bears of Bern for free, so I’m considering the €49 Euros my visa fee to experience the wonders of Switzerland. 🇨🇭
